Image:ubl.png LashBack Unsubscribe Blacklist

LashBack has been monitoring sender unsubscribe compliance since 2003. During this period, LashBack has compiled sender unsubscribe compliance failure in four primary categories:

  1. Senders who fail to provide a working unsubscribe mechanism
  2. Senders who do not honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days
  3. Senders who allow consumer unsubscribe requests to be abused (i.e., shared with other parties to send more spam)
  4. Senders who are taking suppression lists from other organizations and sending email to these lists

[edit] Listing Criteria

  • Unsubscribe abusers

LashBack’s UBL only lists the IP addresses of senders who are using email addresses harvested from suppression lists (point 4).

[edit] Problems

  • The mail server which sends the offending email may be innocent; eg, if a compromised end user's machine is used to send mail via their normally configured mail server.
